CareerCon 2026 is New Futures’ second annual flagship career development event, designed to connect Scholars with the tools, networks, and confidence they need to launch meaningful careers. Taking place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, this full-day event will bring together New Futures Scholars, alumni, and professional volunteers for a powerful experience rooted in learning, connection, and opportunity.

Hosted at the University of the District of Columbia’s Van Ness Campus, CareerCon is expected to be the largest programming event in New Futures’ history reflecting our growing community and deep commitment to Scholar success.

Professional Development and Career Exploration

CareerCon 2026 will feature a robust lineup of professional development workshops and career exploration sessions designed to meet Scholars wherever they are on their journey. Through topical breakout sessions, Scholars will gain insight into in-demand career paths, emerging workforce trends, and the skills employers are seeking today.

These sessions are built to be practical and engaging which helps our Scholars translate their education into real-world career momentum.

Networking, Resume Support, and Mock Interviews with Industry Professionals

A core element of CareerCon is connection. Scholars will participate in guided professional networking exercises, resume enhancement reviews, and mock interviews with industry experts. These hands-on experiences allow Scholars to practice communicating their strengths, receive personalized feedback, and build confidence engaging with professionals across sectors.

With an estimated 150 New Futures Scholars and 100 professional volunteers in attendance, CareerCon creates meaningful opportunities for relationship-building that extend well beyond the day itself.
