Dr. Susan Krause Bell Receives the 2026 Gould Family Award

At Night Out with New Futures on June 5, 2026, New Futures will proudly honor Dr. Susan Krause Bell with the 2026 Gould Family Award in recognition of her extraordinary leadership and unwavering commitment to our organization.

Since joining the New Futures Board of Directors in 2016, Susan has helped guide the organization through some of the most challengng moments in its history. Through these tough seasons of growth, she remained a mission-centered leader whose impact could be felt across every single part of our organization.
About the Gould Family Award
The Gould Family Award (formerly the Mike Gould Award) was established in 2017. This award recognizes an individual (or individuals) whose leadership and dedication have made a significant impact on our ability to fulfill our mission.
Recipients of this prestigous award represent a remarkable group of champions whose leadership has helped shape New Futures over the years. Previous honorees include Mike Kershow in 2025, “The Originals” founding Board members in 2024, Barbara Kafka in 2023, Romana Li in 2019, Lori Kaplan in 2018, and Emily Van Agtmael in 2017.
To receive this award is to join a community of individuals whose care, advocacy, and vision have helped strengthen New Futures and expand opportunities for young people across the DC region.
A Leader Through Transformative Moments
Throughout her years of service, Susan has brought exceptional leadership, wisdom, and integrity to New Futures. She served two terms as Board Chair before stepping into her current role as Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair. She helped lead the organization through pivotal moments including the COVID-19 pandemic and a major CEO transition.
Through her leadership, advocacy, and personal generosity, Susan has helped ensure that New Futures could continue opening doors for Scholars, even during uncertain and challenging times. Her impact has unbelieveably strengthened our organization and positively impacted the hundreds of young people in our program.
We are deeply grateful for Dr. Susan Krause Bell’s leadership, and we are honored to recognize her as the recipient of the 2026 Gould Family Award.
