Michael Ludgardo

Director of Philanthropy & Communications

Michael serves as Director of Philanthropy and Communications at New Futures, bringing heart, strategy, and a deep belief in the power of opportunity to his work. A proud New Futures alum, he draws on years of nonprofit experience to strengthen partnerships, elevate Scholar stories, and expand the mission that once supported him.

Born in Maryland and educated in DC Public Schools, Michael is an alum of the Upward Bound program hosted at George Washington University. Fluent in English and Spanish, he values his Peruvian-American heritage and has enjoyed staying closely connected with his family and culture over the years.

Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from George Mason University, where he also joined Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He completed his master’s in public administration with a concentration in nonprofit management at George Mason in 2023 which further solidified his commitment to service and social impact.

Before joining New Futures, Michael spent nearly thirteen years at United Cerebral Palsy, Inc. (UCP), a national disability advocacy organization. As Manager of Development from 2019 through 2025, he supported and grew the organization’s corporate and individual giving strategies, helping strengthen programs that empower people with disabilities.

Michael has also volunteered with the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC), contributing to Development and Alumni Relations and serving on their Associate Board, reflecting his long-standing dedication to community leadership.
