Kera Donaldson

Scholars Program Advisor

Kera Donaldson serves as a Scholars Program Advisor at New Futures, bringing creativity, compassion, and a strong commitment to community engagement to her work. With a background in storytelling, nonprofit leadership, and student support, she is dedicated to creating spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.

Kera’s passion for community engagement has guided her path from the very beginning. She attended George Mason University with the goal of increasing minority representation in both the talent and messages produced within the television industry. Over time, her creative interests deepened into a desire for direct, hands-on impact.

During the global pandemic, Kera made a pivotal shift. She moved from storytelling through art to building change through action. In October 2020, she founded Sisters N’ Christ, Inc., a nonprofit organization created to provide Black and brown young adult women with a safe, affirming space for community, expression, and support. Through this work, Kera discovered her calling in the nonprofit sector and her commitment to developing programs that strengthen communities from within.

Before stepping into her current role, Kera served as a Project Support Intern at New Futures, where she gained firsthand experience supporting Scholars and program operations. That role helped solidify her dedication to student-centered work and community-based impact.

Outside of work, Kera enjoys exploring photography, managing the playful shenanigans of her cat and dog, and discovering new travel adventures alongside her husband.
