Who We Are
Educational opportunities for rewarding careers.
In 1999, Michael Gould founded New Futures with initial funding provided by the estate of Mike’s late brother, Allen Gould. Allen charged Mike with the responsibility of supporting local low-income youth – and Mike never looked back. Growing from humble origins, New Futures today is recognized as a leader in the DC Metro Area post-secondary education and workforce development sectors.
New Futures helps under-served young people find their pathway to financial stability through a unique combination of post-secondary scholarships, academic advising, and career coaching with a specific focus on short-term degrees and rewarding careers in high-growth fields.
In our nearly 20 years, New Futures has changed the lives of 500 remarkable, yet under-served young people in the Washington, DC region. Our Scholars and Alumni have leveraged $3.5 million in scholarship awards – as well as the academic advising, career coaching, workshops, and other supportive programming we offer – to secure rewarding jobs in sustainable careers. Together, we launch new futures.
