An amazing crowd turned out for the benefit, and all crowded in to hear the inspiring speakers:

Mayor Adrian Fenty praised New Futures and its supporters for their commitment to providing education and opportunity to the youth and young people of DC.   Jim Graham, a long-time supporter of New Futures, echoed those sentiments.

New Futures President Mike Gould updated the crowd on the progress and achievements of the organization, and shared stories about its successful scholars.  Kwame Brown, New Futures scholar and recent graduate of North Carolina A&T, moved the crowd with his personal story.

Author Edie Fraser spoke of inspiring acts of philanthropy taking place around the world, many of which are captured in her book Do Your Giving While You Are Living. Copies were on sale, with half of the proceeds being donated to New Futures.

Several of the New Futures scholars were on hand to enjoy the event and meet New Futures’ supporters as well.  Below is a group of scholars from the Latin American Youth Center and For Love of Children.
